  1. Introduction

Vizool (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that provides no-code UX regression testing. It allows users to record, replay, and compare DOM

interactions on web pages. This Privacy Policy explains how the Extension handles data.

  2. Data Collection and Storage

Vizool collects the following data only when the user actively initiates a recording:

  – User interactions – clicks, keystrokes, scroll positions, form input values (including passwords), and other DOM events performed during a recorded

  test flow.

  – DOM snapshots – partial copies of the page structure at each recorded step, used for comparison during replay.

  – Screenshots – images of the visible browser tab captured during replay for visual regression comparison.

  – Page metadata – the URL of the page being tested, page title, and CSS selectors for interacted elements.

All data is stored exclusively on your local device using the Chrome browser’s built-in chrome.storage.local API. No data is transmitted to, stored on,

or processed by any external server, cloud service, or third party.

  3. Sensitive Data Handling

When recording interactions with password fields, Vizool stores the input value locally so that test flows can be replayed accurately. Password values

  are:

  – Masked in the user interface – displayed as dots (••••••••) in the recording view, step editor, and report views.

  – Masked in exports – replaced with dots in JSON and HTML report exports.

  – Stored locally only – never transmitted outside your browser.

Users should be aware that the raw value remains in local browser storage to enable replay functionality. Clearing extension data or uninstalling the

  extension permanently removes this data.

  4. Permissions and Why They Are Required

  Permission: sidePanel

Purpose: Displays the Vizool interface in Chrome’s side panel.

  ────────────────────────────────────────

  Permission: storage / unlimitedStorage

Purpose: Stores recorded flows, steps, snapshots, screenshots, and settings locally on the device.

  ────────────────────────────────────────

  Permission: activeTab

Purpose: Accesses the currently active tab to record interactions and replay test flows.

  ────────────────────────────────────────

  Permission: scripting

Purpose: Injects content scripts into web pages to capture and replay DOM interactions.

  ────────────────────────────────────────

  Permission: tabs

Purpose: Reads tab URLs to associate recordings with the correct page and to detect navigation during replay.

  ────────────────────────────────────────

  Permission: <all_urls> (host permission)

Purpose: Enables recording and replay on any website the user chooses to test. Vizool only activates on a page when the user explicitly starts a

    recording or replay.

  5. Data Sharing

  Vizool does not:

  – Transmit any data to external servers or APIs.

  – Use analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting services.

  – Share, sell, or disclose any data to third parties.

  – Require or support user accounts or authentication.

  6. Data Exports

Users may voluntarily export test results as JSON or HTML files. These files are generated locally in the browser and saved to the user’s device via

the standard download mechanism. The Extension does not upload exports anywhere.

  7. Data Retention and Deletion

All data persists in chrome.storage.local until the user explicitly deletes it. Users can:

  – Delete individual test flows and their associated data from the Vizool dashboard.

  – Clear all run history for a flow from the history view.

  – Remove all Extension data by uninstalling Vizool or by clearing Extension storage via Chrome’s settings (chrome://extensions).

  8. Children’s Privacy

Vizool is a developer and QA tool not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

  9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by an updated “Last Updated” date at the top of this document. Continued

use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
